HowFast

HowFast is a network analyzing tool. It is designed to measure the speed of your local area network. Therefore it creates a TCP connection and transfers random data. It uses TCP, not UDP for the simple reason, that file transfer and other common networking tasks are also using TCP. If you are using gigabit ethernet you might not be able to test it using file transfer, because your hard drive is most likely slower than your network.
